At Les Pianos André Bolduc, each white spruce log is meticulously examined. No stain, twist, bluish colour, or knot, regardless of how small it may be, is tolerated! Only fresh, premium quality material is used. A soundboard must be stable and offer great flexibility all at once. The Bolduc soundboards are mostly exported to the United States. The Baldwin, Mason & Hamlin and Kohler & Campbell (the Millenium Series) companies choose have selected our boards. A large majority of American piano rebuilders from the East coast to the West coast prefer Bolduc products for the Steinway & Sons piano rebuildings.

Using a cutting method proper to lutherie, the wood is carved so as to respect the vertical grain. This cut is called "quarter sawn." Once they are attentively dried in a drier kiln, the planks are carefully laid out manually according to the closeness of the growth rings, in order to maintain uniformity and stability.

The soundboards are then submitted to two very strict quality inspections before they are shipped to piano manufacturers and technicians. As they are exported to the United States, Europe, and Asia, the Bolduc soundboards are amongst the most in demand by knowledgeable manufacturers.

Internationally-renowned for over 20 years, the Bolduc maple pinblock is definitely a reference point. The North American maple used to make the BolducBlock assures its extreme high quality and supplies the pinblock with a superior life span compared to other products on the market. Its unique design consists of assembling five layers of quarter-sawn maple. The panels are intertwined and cold pressed under very high pressure: over 115 tons. The is then stored for six months so as to ensure a fail-safe stability and an incomparable quality. The BolducBlock was the first Bolduc product to be exported from our Saint-Joseph-de-Beauce factory. We are proud of the reputation our product has acquired in the local and international markets.
